Former Nordic Combined athlete and Olympic Champion 1988 will take over the post of Director Nordic in the Swiss Ski Association. From now on, Kempf will have the strategic responsibility in the disciplines Biathlon, Cross-Country, Nordic Combined and Ski Jumping.

Kempf, who is currently working for the Federal Office for Sports (BASPO) in the areas if innovation and science, will reduce his workload in this area but will still continue to be involved in innovation, development and science in the future. Before changing into this job in 2005, Kempf had already lead all Nordic disciplines of SwissSki for a year, before transitioning to Head of Nordic Combined (until 2011) and Cross-Country Skiing (from 2009).

“We are very happy that we were able to hire Hippolyt Kempf as Director Nordic”, says Bernhard Aregger, CEO of SwissSki. “Nobody in Switzerland has better national and international contacts than him. On top, he has a big sports-political network which is very helpful for our association. He is predestined for this position and has already put his stamp on many positive developments at SwissSki in the past”.

“To develop the Nordic disciplines as Nordic Directors and to prepare them for the future in an optimal way is a big challenge for me but a matter of the heart at the same time. I have been very attached to Nordic winter sports since my earliest childhood”, Kempf said after his nomination. Talks about his successor as Head of Cross-Country Skiing are currently being held.
