The Norwegian Ski Association has announced an expansion of its efforts to develop Women’s Nordic Combined. In less than a year, the first-ever women’s national team will be chosen, and never before has there more focus been on the Nordic Combined women.

“We have begun to systematise the focus on the girl side more than ever. The great future goal are the World Championships 2021 in Oberstdorf. In the upcoming season, the FIS Nordic Junior World Championships and the Continental Cup will be in the main focal points. We will focus our efforts on the 2020/2021 season when we are going to nominate a national team that will fight for World Championship results” , says Sports Director Ivar Stuan.

Several exciting talents have been named to this year’s development team. Gyda Westvold Hansen took the second place in both the Junior World Championships and in the Continental Cup overall last winter. There were six girls who took points in the Continental Cup last winter, and Norway was the best nation in the overall standings.

Some of the athletes will try their hand at the Summer Grand Prix this fall, while the next gathering will be in Trysil in early November. Details regarding the coaching team are not clear yet but the good cooperation with the teams will be continued.
