Similar to Swiss athlete Tim Hug last year, Estonian Nordic Combined athlete Kristjan Ilves has joined forces with Team Norway. The 2017 Summer Grand Prix winner will start training with the team around overall World Cup winner and World Champion Jarl Magnus Riiber from the summer onwards.

Ilves will join a Norwegian training camp in Oberhof (GER) on July 8th and stay in Norway as well as train according to Norwegian plans afterwards.

“This is an amazing opportunity and hugely motivating for me to see what I can do better. I will now see how the world’s best do it”, Ilves said at a press conference.

Peter Sandell, new head coach of the Norwegian team, said Ilves will be seen as a Norwegian and receive exactly the same service. “It is our task to develop him and bring him as close to the world’s best Nordic Combined athletes as possible.”

Together with their sponsors, the Estonian Ski Association was able to create such a solution for their top star Ilves, who took the first Estonian podium in the World Cup in 26 years in Hakuba (JPN) in 2018.
