The FIS Nordic Combined team lead by Race Director Lasse Ottesen completed the last of ten online World Cup inspections for the men's and women's tour last week.

Over the course of September and October, the FIS staff digitally met up with representatives of the World Cup Organising Committees in Ruka (FIN), Lillehammer (NOR), Ramsau am Dachstein and Seefeld (AUT), Otepää (EST), Val di Fiemme (ITA), Lahti (FIN), Oslo (NOR), Klingenthal and Schonach (GER), as well as Beijing (CHN). They were joined by representatives of the rights holders Infront Sports & Media and EBU, as well as the respective host broadcasters and FIS Marketing AG.

In the inspections, the groups discussed sports aspects related to the ski jumping hills and cross-country tracks, TV, media and marketing matters and logistics like accommodation, transportation, security.

A large part of the meetings was of course dedicated to give and receive updates on the respective Covid-19 situation at each host venue and the special measures and concepts which will be implemented on and off the field of play.

“Even though the upcoming winter certainly presents many additional challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are confident that all our Organising Committees have made clear and detailed plans to deal with the situation. The mood in all calls was positive and we felt a lot of motivation and drive from our organisers”, Race Director Lasse Ottesen said after the online meetings. "We are very excited to start the season in Ruka and Lillehammer in four weeks".

While the online inspections for the winter are now concluded, Race Director Lasse Ottesen still has to two important dates to attend: one in-person meeting in Beijing (CHN) to see the progress made at the Olympic host venue of 2022 and the Final Inspection for the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf, which will both take place in November.
