A beautiful winter morning with -17°C was awaiting the Nordic Combined men for their 10km Gundersen event at Junior World Championships in Lahti. The wind conditions were a bit challenging, but just like in PCR two days ago, Johannes Lamparter was the one to handle the Salpausselkä hill the best way. A jump to 95.0m (122.6p.) took him in the lead, 7 seconds ahead of Frenchman Matteo Baud (96.5m, 120.9p.) and 22 seconds ahead of Jiri Konvalinka (94.5m, 117.2p.). Second Frenchman Marco Heinis (91.5m, 115.9p.) followed on rank four with a disadvantage of 27 seconds. The strong cross-country skiers Stefan Rettenegger (92.0m, 115.6p.) and Manuel Einkemmer (90.5m, 115.2) were fifth and sixth, 28 and 30 seconds behind.

Also on the cross-country track Lamparter justified his role as a favorite and let his advantage on his opponents grew bigger and bigger lap by lap. In the end he even had the fastest cross-country time (26:24.3 minutes) and celebrated a clear start-finish victory. Behind him, it was Baud, who showed a super strong performance. While it looked like the others were able to get closer to him on lap three, he then enlarged his pace on the last lap and ended the race on rank two, 49.4 seconds behind the Austrian. Third place went to Rettenegger, who gave it all to reach the Frenchman on the track, but didn’t quite make it anymore (+55.9 seconds). With a strong cross-country race local hero Otto Niittykoski skied to fourth place (+01:29.5 minutes). Andreas Skoglund (+01:48.3 minutes) and Manuel Einkemmer (+01:55.5) followed on rank five and six. The top ten was completed by Perttu Reponen (+02:05.9 minutes), Kodai Kimura (+02:14.8 minutes), Christian Frank (02:27.1 minutes) and Eidar Johan Stroem (+02:37.6 minutes).
