Preliminary calendars 2020/21 introduced

After a busy weekend with online meetings of the Nordic Combined Sub-Committee for Rules and Control and the Executive Board, the current draft of the different calendars for the 200/21 season has been unveiled.
All competitions, but especially the Summer Grand Prix 2020, will of course be subject to the Coronavirus situation and possible national and international restrictions, so the shown dates currently represent the “best case scenario”. In case that said restrictions will prohibit holding the events on the selected dates, alternative plans have been made and will be communicated in time.
Some venues are still to be confirmed and also the competition formats at the different venues are still under discussion in some cases. All calendars are still subject to the approval of the Nordic Combined Committee in its online meeting on May 19th and to the approval of the FIS Council at the following Council meeting. The next version of the calendars will be presented after those respective meetings.
As last year, Nordic Combined women and men will spend the majority of the Summer Grand Prix together on a German tour, beginning in Oberhof on the 22th of August, with one mid-week event in Oberwiesenthal and another weekend in Oberstdorf. This will be the women’s test event for the 2021 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships at the same place. The men end their Summer Grand Prix with two more competitions in Tschagguns (AUT) on the 5th and 6th of September.
The men’s World Cup calendar features the usual three opening stages in Ruka (FIN), Lillehammer (NOR) and Ramsau am Dachstein (AUT). After the new year, the tour will move to Otepää (EST), return to Chaux-Neuve (FRA), the three-event weekend in Val di Fiemme (ITA) and the Nordic weekend in Lahti (FIN). The Nordic Combined TRIPLE in Seefeld takes place on January 29th-31st. Klingenthal (GER) and the Olympic test events in Beijing (CHN) will be the two February events before the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships begin in Oberstdorf. Two events in Oslo and two events in Schonach (GER) will end the season in March
Women’s Competition Winter 2020/21
With much of the Nordic Combined women expected to compete on both competition levels simultaneously, the premiere season of the FIS Nordic Combined Women’s World Cup has been planned to go hand in hand with the FIS Continental Cup calendar.
The women will start their competition season with their World Cup debut in Lillehammer (NOR), before a first Continental Cup weekend will take place overseas, in the USA or as additional Nordic Combined test events in China.
Otepää will be the second stop of the Women’s World Cup, followed by Continental Cup weekends in Poland (TBC) and Eisenerz (AUT). After the FIS Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Zakopane (POL), another Continental Cup weekend in Rena (NOR) is on schedule.
After that, the big season highlight, the 2021 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships will take place in Oberstdorf (GER) in late February/early May, followed by the Continental Cup Finals in Nizhny Tagil (RUS). The Women’s World Cup final takes place in Schonach (GER), together with the Men’s World Cup Final.
