Szczepan Kupczak dominates at Polish national championships

On Saturday, October 17, 2020, the Polish Senior Championship in Nordic Combined took place in Szczyrk. The gold medal was won by Szczepan Kupczak, while Piotr Kudzia can call himself Vice-Champion this year. The podium was completed by Kacper Konior.

Team leader Kupczak claimed the title with a clear lead. He was already the dominating athlete on the jumping hill. With a jump to 105.5 metres in Szczyrk’s HS 105, Kupczak claimed 137.7 points and a massive lead of two minutes and five second on runner-up Kacper Jarzabek, who jumped to 92.5 metres (106.5 p.). Third after the jumping part was Milosz Krzempek, also with 92.5 metres (106 p.)

Kupzcak was also the fastest roller skier by far and completed the 10 km course in 25:54. Piotr Kudzia improved from the seventh rank after ski jumping to the second place but needed 27:59 to complete the course. Adding in his 3-minute delay from the start, he crossed the finish line only 5 minutes after Kupczak. Behind him, Kacper Konior climbed to the podium from position eight. With the third-fastest race time of 27:57, he just managed to keep Maciej Gasienica-Ciaptak off his back, who finished fourth, eight second after Konior.
