One of the rising stars of the French Ski Association is Matteo Baud.
The 19 year-old already competed in 15 World Cups and took part in three Junior World Ski Championships, winning two silver medals in Oberwiesenthal 2020 and Lahti 2021.
He was also part of FIS Nordic World Ski Championship team in Oberstdorf placing 6th with in the Team Sprint and Team event.

Look up all of Matteos results here.

1. Nordic Combined is the best discipline, because…?
Nordic Combined is the best discipline, because it combines strength and finesse. I’m trying to succeed in every part of this sport, although I really enjoy Ski Jumping for all the sensation it brings.
To achieve good results, the challenge is to always be consistent, adjust if necessary and keep the balance all the season.

2. What are your goals for the upcoming season?
For the coming season I just really want to enjoy every single competition and give my best all the time. I would be very happy to be able to start fight for top position, but we will see how this goes.
Of course, the Olympic Winter Games are a big goal after preparing for it all summer.
It will bring new experiences and a new type of competition and I hope to be there and give my best in Beijing!

3. If you wouldn’t be a Nordic Combined athlete, what profession would you have chosen?
If I was not a NC athlete I would do biathlon, because I really enjoy shooting and I think there are some similarities between shooting and Ski Jumping. It’s a discipline in which you also have to combine, in this case skiing and shooting, and I really like this type of challenge.
