3 Questions for Tristan Sommerfeldt

Jun 18, 2021·Nordic Combined
SkiDeutschland, Portrait 2020

Tristan Sommerfeldt is one of the greatest talents in the German Ski Association (DSV). The 16 year-old was born into Nordic sport through his father, former cross-country skier and Olympic silver medalist René Sommerfeldt. The youngster has already competed in the Continental Cup four times and achieved a 4th place with the Mixed Team at the Junior World Ski Championships in Lahti (FIN).

Look up all of Tristans results here.

1. Do you have a sporting role model, if so who and why?
Definitely Erik Frenzel! He achieved so much and I was always able to watch him. When I was younger, I shared the excitement on TV and was happy for him, too. He also trained in the same training groups as I do now.

2. Which venue do you particularly like and why?
The most exciting event so far was the JWSC in Lahti. That was a completely different experience for me than the smaller competitions before. I found the facilities there very cool, both the hill and the Cross Country course were great and contributed to what were overall great competitions for me.

3. Complete the sentence: The best thing about Nordic combined is…?
The best thing about Nordic Combined is the interplay of two so different sports and that nothing is decided after ski jumping, anything can still happen.
