Ruka Nordic with positive Snow Control

The Nordic Combined season opening in Ruka is confirmed.

Snow Controller Pekka Hyvärinen was in contact with the Organizing Committee regarding the snow conditions in northern Finland. The organizers were able to use the constantly cold temperatures to make artificial snow and use last year’s snow depot. 
“They have stored enough snow for the whole 5km Cross-Country course”, said Hyvärinen. The stadium area was additionally snowed during the weekend, so that the tracks will be ready for skiing from tomorrow (Tuesday, 16.11.) on.

The Ski Jumping hill was also snowed during the weekend, ahead of the profile preparation that will be done on Friday. “The weather forecast for the next 15 days, according to temperature, is also pretty good”, said Hyvärinen about the constantly predicted degrees below 0°C at night.

Therefore, the Ruka OC is ready for the upcoming FIS Nordic Combined, Cross-Country, and Ski Jumping World Cups from 25.-28.11.2021.
