The Nordic Combined TRIPLE 2022 is on and started with a cancellation right away.

After light snowfall in the morning, the sky cleared for one trial and one competition round on the Toni-Seelos HS109 this afternoon in Seefeld (AUT).
Unfortunately, the wind threw a spanner in the works for the jury, so that the trial round had to be cancelled after 6 athletes. Afterwards, also the competition round fell victim to the difficult conditions, so that the Provisional Competition Round had to be used for the following cross-country race.

Yesterday’s PCR winner Jarl Magnus Riiber was therefore the first one to go into the 7.5 km race at the WM Arena in Seefeld and brought a comfortable lead to the track.
The Norwegian jumped to 107 meters and collected a total of 127.9 points, which gave him a 57 second head start over Terence Weber (113.7 pts) and Kristjan Ilves (113.6 pts) on rank two and three.

After 3.7 km the duo was caught by Johannes Lamparter (AUT) und Vinzenz Geiger (GER), while the gap to Riiber grew to 1:12 min.

At this point, the pursuers were no longer interested in catching up with the Norwegian, but only in positioning themselves well within their group in order to collect as many bonus points as possible for tomorrow.

Nevertheless, they managed to reduce the gap at 6.2 km to 45.5 sec, mainly because the two Germans, Ilves and Lamparter were able to take turns in leading the game against a strong headwind, while Riiber was left to his own devices.

On the final climb, Geiger launched an attack that only Johannes Lamparter could keep up with. The German crossed the finish line 25.4 seconds behind Riiber, while Lamparter secured the third place (+ 30.9 sec) on homesoil.

Because there are only half World Cup points given for day 1 and 2 of the TRIPLE, Riiber was just able to reduce his gap but not catch up to Johannes Lamparter in the overall World Cup ranking. Therefore, the yellow bib will remain in the Austrian's possession for now.
