Westvold Hansen unbeatable in Oberwiesenthal

FIS Summer Grand Prix leader Gyda Westvold Hansen impresslively defended her yellow BIB at the Women’s HS105/5km competition in Oberwiesenthal/Germany.

Under sunny conditions the Norwegian jumped the furthest distance of the day with 102.5 meters (116.4 pts) in the morning at the Fichtelbergschanze HS105 and took the lead. Therefore she was the first one to start into the 5 km at the Sparkasse Skiarena this afternoon and defended her solid lead until the end.

Rank 2 after jumping went to Jenny Nowak from Germany, who landed at 101 meters (116 pts) and went into the course only 2 seconds after Westvold Hansen.

PCR winner Annalena Slamik (100.5 mts, 112.6 pts) placed third with a 15 second backlog. 
Ema Volavsek (88.5 mts, 99 pts) placed 4th and started 1:07 minutes behind the current Grand Prix leader from Norway. 
The Slovenian showed a strong performance on roller skis and crossed the finish line on rank 2, 1:10 minutes after Westvold Hansen.

The third place also went to Norway with Mari Leinan Lund reaching the finish on the top of the Fichtelberg 1:20 minutes behind her team mate. 
Another strong performance was shown by Marie Nähring who had the fasted pace on the course and came in 4th overall.

After the difficult climb the athletes and spectators were rewarded with sunshine and a beautiful view from the top of the Fichtelberg.
