With the "German Trophy", the Viessmann FIS Nordic Combined World Cup will receive a new special rating this winter for the German World Cup stations in Klingenthal, Oberstdorf and Schonach. The title sponsor of the three series will be the digital travel platform trivago.

"The trivago German Trophy will undoubtedly be a real highlight in the Nordic Combined World Cup season," says Horst Hüttel, DSV Sports Director World Cup and FIS Chairman Nordic Combined. "We are therefore very pleased that we have found a partner in trivago who supports this new idea right from the start. This is great news in view of the future prospects for Nordic Combined as a whole that were discussed recently."

The basic concept of the trivago German Trophy is to summarize the total of six Individual competitions of the three German World Cup events in an overall ranking. The competition formats and individual ratings remain unchanged. The evaluation mode is new, in which the individual time intervals of the individual six finishes are added together. The winner of the trivago German Trophy 2023 will be the athlete who has the lowest total time across all competitions held.

The top three winners of the trivago German Trophy will receive additional prize money of EUR 10,000 (winner), EUR 5,000 (2nd place) and EUR 3,000 (3rd place).

trivago, the leading hotel comparison website based in Düsseldorf, is a well-known partner in football and handball. "We believe that sport and travel have a common goal: to bring people together," explains CFO and CMO Matthias Tillmann. "We are very excited to be working with DSV, one of the most popular winter sports federations that promotes high-performance sport and supports many young athletes to do what they have loved most for decades. This is the first deal of its kind with the German Trophy a logical extension of our sponsorship strategy."

The trivago German Trophy 2023 starts on January 21st and 22nd in Klingenthal with two Individual competitions (Gundersen 10 km). At the second station in Oberstdorf, a Mass Start (10 km) and an Individual (Gundersen 10 km) are on the program on February 4th and 5th. At the end of the series in Schonach (February 11th – 12th, 2023), the best Nordic Combined athletes in the world will compete in two Individuals (Gundersen 10 km) for the trophy.

More than 54 athletes from twelve nations are currently registered for the start of the trivago German Trophy in Klingenthal.
