Jarl Magnus Riiber is also the winner of the second Individual competition in Oslo (NOR), after receiving the King’s Trophy yesterday.

The Norwegian was already in the lead after the Ski Jumping competition on the Holmenkollen HS 134 this morning.

Beneath a blue sky, last year’s Overall World Cup winner reached 125 meters with five gates less than the rest of the field and collected a total of 128.1 points. He was therefore the first one to start into the 10km race in the afternoon.

Rank 2 after jumping went to Franz-Josef Rehrl, who jumped the furthest distance of the day with 132.5 meters, collecting 124.9 points. The Austrian went into the course 13 seconds after Riiber, while his team mate Martin Fritz (121.5 m, 107.5 pts) placed third, 1:22 min behind the leader.

Due to the large distance to the rest of the field, both Riiber and Rehrl initially ran lonely at the top without pressure from behind.

The Norwegian decided not to wait for the Austrian to go through the race together, but steadily increased his lead.

After 2.5 km the gap was already 30.2 seconds, while from behind the good skiers Julian Schmid (+1:47 min), Laurent Mühlethaler (+1:48 min), Vinzenz Geiger (+1:49 min) and Martin Fritz (+ 1:49 min) rushed up.

Rehrl kept falling behind and after 7.5km was already 1:29 minutes behind Riiber, who showed another fantastic race on home soil and presented himself in the form of his life.

Meanwhile, the Austrian had increasing difficulties keeping his pursuers at a distance and was finally caught by them on the last lap.

He dropped back to 4th place after 8.3 km, while Geiger and Schmid broke away from the group and entered the stadium together.

While Riiber celebrated his 55th World Cup victory, the Germans fought an internal duel that Geiger (+1:32 min) won in the end, while Schmid (+1:37 min) completed the double podium for Germany on rank 3.
