Gyda Westvold Hansen is the winner of the women’s Individual competition in Otepää (EST) today.

After the Ski Jumping round on the Tehvandi HS97 this morning, Best Jumper Annika Sieff was in the lead.

In winterly weather the Italian jumped 98 meters (114.5 pts) and secured the victory.
Overall World Cup leader Gyda Westvold Hansen from Norway reached 91.5 meters (111.6 pts) and took the second rank, together with German Jenny Nowak (111.6 pts) who jumped the furthest distance of the day with 100 meters. Both went into the 5 km race 12 seconds after the Italian.

With 7 athletes starting the race within the first minute, a tight fight for the podium could be expected.

Hansen showed her skiing strength already in the first lap, catching up with Sieff soon after the start and had already a 27.6 sec lead after 1.2 km.
Due to a previous infection, the Italian couldn’t perfom on highest level and fell back, while Nowak tried to defend her podium position, going through the 2.5 km intermediate point together with team mate Nathalie Armbruster (+33.9 sec) and Lisa Hirner (+34.3 sec) from Austria.

While Hansen secured another World Cup victory, the fight for the other two podium spots was much more exciting.
In a tight finish sprint, Nathalie Armbruster (+26.6 sec) secured her best World Cup result with a second place, ahead of Lisa Hirner (+27.8 sec) on rank 3.
