Planica (SLO): 104 m for Rehrl and Riiber in Official Training

The men’s first jumps on the World Championship hill HS102 took place this morning in the Planica Nordic Center.
A total of three Official Training rounds provided a first glimpse of the athletes' jumping form ahead of the first Individual Gundersen competition on Saturday, 25th February.
In addition, the athletes were able to get to know the hill before the first World Championship event.
Defending champion Jarl Magnus Riiber reported back impressively and in time for the World Championships with the longest jump of the day at 104 meters in the third training round after health problems in the last few weeks.
After finishing 6th and 3rd in the first two rounds, he showed consistent improvement and will go into Saturday's Normal Hill competition as a medal favorite.
Overall World Cup leader Johannes Lamparter was 35th, 19th and 9th and still has room for improvement on the hill, while his Austrian teammate Franz-Josef Rehrl, after 15th and 4th place, also reached 104 meters in the third training session and won together with Riiber.
Japan's Ryota Yamamoto performed on his usual high level and ranked fifth, first and fourth.
Julian Schmid from Germany improved from 19th and 7th place in the first two rounds to 103.5 meters and 3rd place in the last training session and also has a good chance of a medal.
