Sophia Maurus won the second Continental Cup competition of her career in Klingenthal (GER) today.

The Ski Jumping part had to be cancelled due to difficult wind conditions, therefore the Provisional Competition Round from Friday was used.

Yesterday’s winner Jenny Nowak, who reached the furthest distance of the PCR with 73.5 meters, was not on start, which lead to her team mate Amelie Steiner (68.5 m, 95.4 pts) starting the race first, after placing second in the PCR.
Sophia Maurus (68.5 m, 95 pts) went into the race only 2 seconds after her team mate, closely followed by Silva Verbic (69.5 m, 93.8 pts) from Slovenia.

Steiner couldn’t keep up with the high pace of her team mate and fell back, while Overall COC leader Joanna Kil from Poland showed another great cross-country performance.
In the end, Maurus could narrowly defend her lead into the finish and took her second COC victory, 1.8 sec ahead of Kil.
Italian Greta Pinzani (+16 sec) completed the podium on rank three, achieving the best COC result of her career.

With a second place, Kil defended her lead in the Overall ranking.
