Johannes Lamparter is the winner of the men’s Individual Gundersen competition in Lahti (FIN) today.

His team mate Stefan Rettenegger was in the lead after the Ski Jumping competition on the Salpausselkä HS 130 this morning.

In changing wind conditions, that lead to several interruptions, the Austrian reached 132 meters (136.7 pts) and took the lead. Therefore, he was the first one to start into the 10 km cross-country race this afternoon.

Rank 2 after jumping went to Johannes Lamparter, who reached the furthest distance of the day with 136.5 meters (135.4 pts) and went into the course only 5 seconds after his Austrian team mate.
Estonian Kristjan Ilves (126.5 m, 128.9 pts) placed third 31 seconds behind the leaders.

Lamparter caught up to Rettenegger already during the first kilometer and the two Austrians went through the race together until the end.

Meanwhile, Terence Weber, who was 4th after jumping, closed the gap to Ilves and stayed with the Estonian during the majority of the race.

With the strong skiers Joergen Graabak (9th after jumping) and Vinzenz Geiger (12th after jumping) coming from behind, trying to catch up, the two pursuers had to work together to keep them at a distance.
Since the two leader constantly extended their lead and were already 42 seconds ahead after 7.5 km, Ilves and Weber were fighting for third place.
In the last lap, the Estonian started an attack the German couldn’t follow, while Graabak and Geiger, who are still fighting for the Best Skier Trophy, caught Eero Hirvonen and took over 4th and 5th place.

Lamparter and Rettenegger went into the home stretch together showing an exciting finish sprint, that Lamparter narrowly won by 0.1 sec against his team mate, who secured the double-podium for Austria.
Ilves (+51.8 sec) placed third, reaching his third podium of the season.
