Live Talk with Johannes Lamparter

Overall World Cup Champion 2022/23, Johannes Lamparter, was the first guest in the new FIS Nordic Combined Instagram Live Talk series, which will take place regularly this summer.

The Austrian, who is currently spending time with his team at a training camp in Mallorca (ESP), gave a deep insight into his life and answered numerous fan questions.

Among other topics, Lamparter revealed what passion he would pursue if he weren't a Nordic Combined athlete.

"I would probably ride bike races or would have become a weightlifter," the Tyrolean explained to the astonished spectators. "A lot of people don't know this, but I lifted weights until I was 14. I competed in the lightest category and there are not many competitors there, so I became Austrian Champion in 2018.”

But Lamparter is not only succeeding in weightlifting. With the Overall World Cup victory, he brought the crystal globe back to Austria for the first time since Felix Gottwald (2000/2001) and even today the trophy has a very special place in his home.

After a terrific season, Lamparter was able to call the coveted crystal trophy his own and didn't want to let it out of his hands at the beginning.

"The first night I slept in the same bed with the globe", said the 21-year-old, laughing. “By now, however, it has a special place in my dining room, between my two trophies from the Seefeld TRIPLE. I can watch them every time I sit at the table and it gives me a lot of motivation to do that again next season.”
