Ramsau (AUT): Lamparter takes second win on home soil

Johannes Lamparter is the winner of the men’s Individual Compact competition in Ramsau (AUT) today.
The lead after Ski Jumping was taken by Thomas Rettenegger on the WM-Schanze HS98 this morning.
Under sunny conditions the Austrian jumped 100.5 meters in the morning in Ramsau (AUT) and took the lead with 147.4 points. Therefore, he was the first one to start into the 7.5 km Compact race this afternoon.
Rank 2 after jumping went to Jarl Magnus Riiber from Norway, who landed at 101 meters (143.9 pts) and went into the course 6 seconds after Rettenegger, due to the fixed starting times.
Stefan Rettenegger reached the furthest distance of the day with 102 meters and placed third with a total of 135.5 points. He started the race 12 seconds after his brother.
Due to the small time gaps in the Compact format, a tough fight for the podium could be expected and Riiber went into the race full-speed.
The Norwegian overtook Thomas Rettenegger already on the first climb and was leading the leading trio after 2.5km.
Johannes Lamparter tried to close the gap, slowy shrinking the seconds, until he finally caught up after 3.7 km.
Thomas Rettenegger couldn’t keep up with the high speed and fell back, while his brother Stefan took over the leading work at the 5km mark, closely followed by Riiber (+0.3 sec) and Lamparter (+0.7 sec).
On the final climb, Lamparter launched an attack and pulled away from his competitors with an impressive sprint, growing a gap of multiple meters.
But Riiber and Rettenegger didn’t want to let him get away easily, so the trio went into the home stretch together. In an exciting finish sprint, Lamparter secured his second victory in Ramsau, ahead of Overall World Cup leader Riiber (+1.6 sec) and his team mate Rettenegger (+1.9 sec).
