Home gold for Løken as Telemark World Championships begin in Rjukan

Norway's Trym Nygaard Løken won gold on home snow as the FIS Telemark World Championships began in Rjukan (NOR). In addition to taking the overall and classic World Cup titles this year, Løken added the gold medal in a time of 2:17.11 and beat out Slovenia’s Jure Ales for the title. The Slovenian completed the course in 2:18.14. The bronze medal remained in Norway as well as Sivert Hole finished third in 2:19.74.

In the women's classic, Amelie Wenger-Reymond continued her dominance of the sport by clinching gold. The Swiss won the overall, classic and sprint World Cup titles this winter and finished the first World Championship race in 2:21.82. Johanna Holzmann (GER) collected silver in 2:23.66 and Martina Wyss (SUI) completed the podium in third after a 2:25.38 finish.
