Antti Aalto injured his ankle when he was playing volleyball during warm-up training earlier this week.

At an MRI exam in Kuopio it was diagnosed that two ligaments were damaged, a surgery will not be necessary. "There's no reason to worry because of the training right now. I had a good summer. First the injury in my ankle needs to heal, then it's time for the competitions", Antti Aalto is quoted on the website of the Finnish Ski Association.

The 24-year-old can start the rehabilitation immediately, but he will not be able to jump for a few weeks. This means that Antti Aalto, who was the best Finnish jumper in the overall World Cup last season in 25th, will miss the first events of the 2019/20 winter season.

"The doctors are not optimistic when it comes to the first competitions of the upcoming season, but of course, everything is possible. We know that the entire season is not in jeopardy", said head coach Lauri Hakola.
