27-year-old Carina Vogt, 2014 Olympic champion, has suffered an ACL rupture during the training camp of the German team in Stams (AUT) and will be out for the entire next season.

"I felt a pain in my right knee as I landed and fell. Afterwards, the knee was unstable and could no longer be strained," Vogt said in a statement published the German Ski Association. At an MRI examination in Munich, the injury (tear of the ACL in the right knee) had been diagnosed.

Coach Andreas Bauer issued the following comment:
"This injury is very bitter for Carina personally as well as for the entire team. It will be a big challenge for us to compensate for her absence in the coming winter. We wish Carina a successful operation followed by a quick recovery and we are sure that she will reinforce our team again in the 2020/21 winter season".

"Oh no, not you too..." commented Olympic Champion Andreas Wellinger, who is currently sidelined himself due to an ACL rupture, the news regarding his teammate.

In addition to Olympic gold in Sochi, Vogt has claimed several World Championship titles in individual and mixed team events. Most recently Vogt won team gold at the 2019 FIS Nordic Ski World Championships in Seefeld (AUT).
