Dawid Kubacki takes it all in Bischofshofen

With his win in the final event of the 68th 4-Hills-Tournament in Bischofshofen, Dawid Kubacki also claimed the prestigious overall title. The 29-year-old Pole celebrated the second big success of his career after winning the World Championship title in Seefeld 2019. Karl Geiger of Germany and Norway's Marius Lindvik came in second and third in Bischofshofen today.
It was the nail-biter that the 15 000 fans at the final in Bischofshofen (AUT) were hoping for on Monday evening. Even if overall leader Kubacki already had the best jump in the first round, the battle for the big title was not over until the very last jump of this 68th 4-Hills-Tournament.
"It was a tough day, the competition was very strong. I was working really hard to stay focused and do what I can. I'm really glad that it worked out and I just wanted to do it my way. I'm happy that I could remain calm and do my job", the happy winner Dawid Kubacki told right after his last jump of this Tour.
Karl Geiger finished second for the third time during this 4-Hills-Tournament and that earned him the great third place overall. "Yesterday I didn't have a good day here, today it was really nice again. That makes me very happy. We were analyzing the video and then I knew what I had to change. That worked out really well right from the start today. It was the best 4-Hills-Tournament for me so far, I've never been that good before. Especially the competition in Oberstdorf was a very special moment for me", said Karl Geiger, who was able to meet the high expectations with his performances during this 4-Hills-Tournament.
The surprise of this Tour was the only 21-year-old Norwegian Marius Lindvik, who came in second overall after claiming his first two World Cup wins in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Innsbruck and the third place today. "I'm not disappointed at all. It's been an amazing 4-Hills-Tournament for me. I didn't expect to be second in the overall ranking. There are so many fans at all the events that it was always nice to go back to the hotel and relax a bit", said the up-and-comer, for whom this was the first competition ever in Bischofshofen.
Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi, who was fourth in the 4-Hills-Tournament, remains in the lead of the overall World Cup with 644 points. He is followed by Karl Geiger (619 points) and Austria's Stefan Kraft (539 points).
The Ski Jumping World Cup continues next weekend in Predazzo (ITA), where two competitions will be held on the normal hill.
Karl Geiger: Yesterday I didn't have a good day here, today it was really nice again. That makes me very happy. We were analyzing the video and then I knew what I had to change. That worked out really well right from the start today. It was the best 4-Hills-Tournament for me so far, I've never been that good before. Especially the competition in Oberstdorf was a very special moment for me.
Stefan Kraft: It's a pity that it was not enough for the podium again. The three others deserve to be on top, but finishing fourth three times is tough. It's so close, everything has to work well. It was not enough for me three times, the others were simply better and I have to accept that. I'm jumping on a very high level and it's a lot of fun. I had some very good jumps.
Dawid Kubacki: It was a tough day, the competition was very strong. I was working really hard to stay focused and do what I can. I'm really glad that it worked out and I just wanted to do it may way. I'm happy that I could remain calm and do my job.
Markus Eisenbichler: Karl had a great 4-Hills-Tournament, he did a very good job. In Innsbruck he had bad luck, but that didn't irritate him. Yesterday the qualification didn't go that well for him either and today he came in second. Amazing.
Marius Lindvik: I'm not disappointed at all. It's been an amazing 4-Hills-Tournament for me. I didn't expect to be second in the overall ranking. There are so many fans at all the events that it was always nice to go back to the hotel and relax a bit.
Stefan Horngacher (Coach GER): I'm definitely satisfied, especially with Karl. He had a fantastic 4-Hills-Tournament and got in even better shape during the course of this Tour. The third place overall is remarkable. It was Ski Jumping on the highest level. The rest of the team also showed the potential that they have. Dawid was jumping great, he was absolutely the best today. Marius Lindvik also posted some great jumps.
Walter Hofer (FIS Race Director): It's great when the conditions are as good as they were today and only the athletes decide the competition. The 4-Hills-Tournament is obviously a huge highlight on our calendar and the pressure is high on everyone involved. So of course, it's good when it's over.
Adam Malysz (Polish Ski Jumping legend): Dawid is in very good shape. We need these results after the start of the season was not that good for us. Now we are achieving the results we want. Dawid worked really hard this summer. I'm sure that there are celebrations now everywhere in Poland.
