Home win for the World Cup dominator

After winning the qualification yesterday, local hero Maren Lundby confirmed her leader position with the best jumps reaching 138 m and 135 m for a total of 280.8 points. She felt special emotions winning this first competition at home, being supported by friends and family watching her.  “It is my home place, it was really good to take the first win. Of course, it was a lot of work before the competition, but I felt good today and I am very happy “ claimed the Olympic and World champion.

Finishing seventh in the qualification yesterday and second today, Austrian Eva Pinkelnig was having goose bumps and happiness tears sharing podium celebration with her friend and room mate Chiara Hoelzl. Pinkelnig "a dream is coming true. It’s really an amazing season opening as it happens at the very first competition" said the happy girl. After winning the COC at home land last September, the 31-year-old Austrian was obviously remaining in a strong shape until the start of the winter season and she is definitely ready to fight for the best to collect.

With her fourth podium overall in World Cup, Chiara Hoelzl commented "Qualification was really fun yesterday, jumps were good and I am in a good shape. So, if I can keep this, it’s quite good, I am really happy”

Japanese Yuki Ito and Slovenian Ema Klinec collected equally 250.6 points and reached the fourth position.

Austrian strong

Last summer Continental Cup Champion Marita Kramer jumped into the tenth position, and with Jacqueline Seidfriedsberger being seventh, a total of four Austrian jumpers were eventually in the Top 10 today.

Japan and Norway were represented twice with the 20 year-old- Norwegian Silje Opseth being eighth and renowned Japanese Sara Takanashi, last summer Grand Prix winner, finishing ninth.

Thanks to Katharina Althaus, second in the last overall World Cup and finishing sixth today,  Germany was also represented in the Top 10

The World Cup continues tomorrow whereas the athletes might expect snow. This season's second individual event starts on Sunday at 14.00 CET
