As of now, Martin Schmit will pass on his huge amount of experience to young ski jumpers and will join the German Ski Association (DSV) to work as a talent scout.

In this position, the 41-year-old, who is already a certified coach, shall help to further develop German talents.
"As a talent scout, Martin will mainly work with ski jumpers of the C- and D/C teams. He will be present at essential training camps and together with the various coaches, he will develop support frameworks. In addition, there will be constant contact between Martin and the head youth coaches Sepp Buchner and Christoph Klumpp", Horst Huettel, athletic director for Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined, explains the future tasks of the former overall World Cup winner and World- and Olympic Champion.

Martin Schmitt is looking forward to what lies ahead: "I always really wanted to pass on my knowledge and my experiences to young athletes. For me, being entrusted with this task is a sign of appreciation and a challenge at the same time. I'm convinced that together we will be able to further develop talented ski jumpers even more effectively in order for them to reach the world's elite."

Despite this new job, TV viewers will not have to do without the Ski Jumping legend in the future. Martin Schmitt will also continue to work as an expert for German Eurosport.
