After many cancellations due to the Corona-pandemic, this summer's only Continental Cup takes place this weekend in Wisla (POL). The win in the first competition on the Adam-Malysz-hill, where a FIS Grand Prix was held just a few weeks ago, went to Martin Hamann.

The German laid the foundation for his first win in the COC since January 2019 with the best jump in the first round of 133 m. The 23-year-old could then defend his lead with a second jump of 132.5 m and a total of 254.9 points. "It was quite okay. The jumps weren’t perfect, but it’s alright The feeling was great like during the Summer Grand Prix three weeks ago", said the happy winner.

Sander Vossan Eriksen of Norway came from behind to a career-best result in the second round. The 19-year-old was eighth after the first half of the competition with 126.5 m, in the final, he then posted the longest jump of the day with 135 m and 251.1 points earned him the second place and his first-ever podium in the Continental Cup.

"All in all, the competition was very good. The first jump was mediocre, but the second jump felt amazing. It was amazing to stand on the podium after such a good jump. The conditions were good, the wind was changing a bit but not so much. I think it was a good and fair competition. Tomorrow I want to get one place higher", told Eriksen.

Anze Lanisek of Slovenia, who finished 19th and 13th in the Grand Prix in Poland three weeks ago, came in third today with jumps of 130.5 m and 129 m and 250.0 points. "It was a nice competition. My jumps were better in training, but I still can be satisfied. It’s a bit of a redemption today for Summer Grand Prix because I wasn’t at the best level there even though I was in really good shape before. Now it was just the opposite. I wasn’t in the best shape, but I had some solid jumps for the competition", analyzed Anze Lanisek.

Aleksander Zniszczol was the best of the Polish hosts today. After he was third in the first round, he closely missed the podium on his home hill and finished fourth.

Dominik Peter of Switzerland achieved his career-best result today in fifth. He was followed by the two Austrians Markus Schiffner and Timon-Pascal Kahofer in sixth and seventh. Timon-Pascal Kahofer was among the best 10 for the first time in his only third competition in the COC.

Cestmir Kozisek of the Czech Republic and Slovenia's Cene Prevc, tied for eighth, the Top 10 were completed by Poland's Pawel Wasek.

The second competition in Wisla starts on Saturday at 11 am CET.
