Sarah Hendrickson announces her retirement

US American Sarah Hendrickson, who has been struggling with injuries often during the course of her successful career, has announced her retirement on Friday.

"My career in the sport of ski jumping has undeniably been a dream come true. I am forever in love with this sport and every opportunity and person it has included. As I step away from being an athlete, my dedication to bettering the sport remains a top priority in my life", the 26-year-old wrote on Instagram.

Sarah Hendrickson was competing in the women's World Cup right from the start and was one of the dominating athletes back then. She won a total of 13 World Cups wins and stood on the podium 25 times during her career, in the 2011/12 season she claimed the first-ever overall World Cup title in women's Ski Jumping.
In the 2013 Nordic World Championships in Predazzo, she crowned herself World Champion.

The last time the athlete from Park City competed internationally was in the Continental Cup in Stams 2019, her last World Cup was in Oberstdorf in March 2018.
