Big women's final in Klingenthal

The world's best female ski jumpers ended the FIS women's Grand Prix 2021 with a great competition on Saturday in Klingenthal (GER). The happy winner of the competition in Klingenthal was Austria's Marita Kramer, who took a clear win ahead of Slovenia's Ursa Bogataj and Sara Takanashi of Japan.
With an outstanding second jump on the record distance of 141.5 m, Kramer set the highlight of an exciting event in the Vogtland-Arena. "When you have a great jump you realize it immediately after the take-off and that's the best feeling. In winter I want to continue jumping like this and I think I'm on a pretty good way", explained Kramer, for whom this was the first win in a Grand Prix.
Ursa Bogataj, the GP overall champion and second-placed athlete today, said after her overall win: "I'm very happy that I could win the overall title, I didn't expect this at all. I have just returned from an injury and I thought that achieving that would be impossible for me, but it happened. I would be happy if I could also win in winter, but I know that there are many competitors who also have big goals."
As always during the course of the summer, the Slovenes had the strongest team. Besides Ursa Bogataj, Nika Kriznar (4th), Jerneja Brecl (7th), and Spela Rogelj (10th) finished in the Top 10. The Slovenian jumpers will be the ones to beat in the upcoming winter.
The best athlete of the German team was Katharina Althaus in fifth, Selina Freitag came in on a strong 12th place in her home competition. The best of the Norwegians was Silje Opseth in ninth. World and Olympic champion Maren Lundby will start competing again in the next World Cup after she has decided to skip the events of the 2021 summer season.
With a total of 600 points, Ursa Bogataj took a clear overall win in the Grand Prix 2021, it's the biggest success of her career so far. Her best result in the overall World Cup is the ninth place in the 2017/18 season.
Sara Takanashi finished second overall with 320 points, Marita Kramer moved up to third (272 points) with her win today.
The women's World Cup starts a week after the men's World Cup on November 26th and 27th in Nizhny Tagil (RUS).
