In the second competition of the Continental Cup in Vikersund (NOR), Germany's Severin Freund made it to the top of the podium in an international competition for the first time in more than five years.

After his third place on Friday, the 33-year-old former overall World Cup champion, who was struggling with serious injuries in recent years, won Saturday's competition with his jumps of 115.5 m and 113 m and 264.5 points. The last time the Bavarian claimed an individual win in one of the two highest competition series was late November 2016 when he was the best in a World Cup in Ruka (FIN).

Ulrich Wohlgenannt of Austria shows consistently strong performances this winter and after his win in the first competition in Vikersund, he came in second today with 113.5 m and 114.5 m and a total of 262.2 points. In the four competitions this season, a second place was his worst result.

The weekend in Norway ended with a strong result also for Czech veteran Roman Koudelka. After a long break due to an injury he failed to make the cut for the final round on Friday, but today we could finish third with 111 m and 111.5 m and 254.7 points. In his long career, the 32-year-old has never achieved a better result in the COC.

Norway's Joacim Oedegaard Bjoereng narrowly missed the podium and came in fourth, in sixth and seventh, half-time leader Sondre Ringen and Soelve Jokerud Strand, for whom this was the best result of his career so far, completed the very good result of the hosting team.
Philipp Raimund of Germany (8th), Austria's Thomas Lackner (9th), and Ren Nikaido of Japan (10th) also achieved a Top 10 result on Saturday.

With his second place today, Ulrich Wohlgenannt could extend his overall lead in the Continental Cup. The Austrian now leads with 360 points clearly ahead of the two Germans David Siegel (193 points) and Severin Freund (160 points).
The next two competitions will be held in Ruka (FIN) next weekend.
