It was a great final of the 70th 4-Hills-tournament on Thursday in Bischofshofen (AUT). Ryoyu Kobayashi lived up to his role as the top favorite at the 70th 4-Hills-Tournament, the Japanese took the overall title ahead of the two Norwegians Marius Lindvik and Halvor Egner Granerud, but he could not win his second Grand Slam.

Kobayashi claimed his second 4-Hills win with a total of 1162.3 points and the fifth place in the final competition in Bischofshofen. His main opponent in the fight for the overall title, Norway's Marius Lindvik, finished tenth this evening. In the end, Ryoyu Kobayashi had a lead of 24.2 points over Lindvik and 34.1 points over Granerud.

It was the second time that Ryoyu Kobayashi could win the 4-Hills-Tournament, he already achieved that in 2018/19. "I'm extremely happy, but also a bit exhausted. I'm very happy that I was able to show consistent jumps during the entire Tournament. It's a bit sad, that I could not win the Grand Slam, but I'm happy that I could win the golden eagle. I would not have expected that I can win this overall title for the second time. It's also special that I was able to win the 70th edition of the 4-Hills-Tournament", he said after his success.

The win in Bischofshofen surprisingly went to local hero Daniel Huber with 286.8 points, followed by Halvor Egner Granerud and Karl Geiger. It was the first World Cup win ever for Huber. "The last couple of weeks have not been easy, even though I knew that I could be among the best. Many years of hard work went into this, sometimes I even doubted myself. Today was an incredible day. I got more and more confident, but you can't expect an outcome like this but somehow I knew that I have it in me. It's very emotional to take the first World Cup win at home, I don't know what to say", said the winner.

With the third place today, it was a positive end of the 70th 4-Hills-Tournament for Karl Geiger. He started it as one of the two top favorites for the overall title and ended it in fourth overall. Markus Eisenbichler came in fifth in the 4-Hills-Tournament.

Ryoyu Kobayashi leads the overall World Cup now with 841 points, ahead of Karl Geiger (785 points) and Halvor Egner Granerud (613 points).

The Ski Jumping World Cup continues already on Saturday and Sunday in Bischofshofen.

More Statements after the competition in Bischofshofen:

Jan Hoerl (AUT): There were ups and downs for me today. In the first round, I was too late at the take-off, then it's tough from gate eight. The second jump then was a lot better. The start of the 4-Hills-Tournament was not that good for me, I'm very satisfied with the results in Garmisch and here and also with the eighth place overall.

Stephan Leyhe (GER): It's a lot better to be competing in the 4-Hills-Tournament than to watch from home like last year. When you have Top 10 results at the beginning of the season then this is the level you want to perform on for the rest of the season, that's why I'm a bit disappointed today. I don't really know what's the reason that I lack about ten meters.

Karl Geiger (GER): It was a difficult 4-Hills-Tournament, also emotionally. But now it's over, we have to analyze it and see that we can do better next time. Yesterday and today were two very good days and I'm satisfied with my performances here.

Philipp Aschenwald (AUT): My performance here was a lot more consistent, jumping is a lot more fun again. I'm on the right track. It couldn't be any better for Daniel than to celebrate his first World Cup win here in Bischofshofen, obviously, I'm very happy for him. This is cool for the entire team.

Halvor Egner Granerud (NOR): I had seven good jumps during this 4-Hills-Tournament, it was the most stable part of the season for me and I'm satisfied with that. I'm leaving the 4-Hills with three podiums and I'm happy about that. We had a quite good fight for the last spot on the podium and I think on a day like today you have to say "well done, Ryoyu" and I'm happy with what I achieved.

Marius Lindvik (NOR): I'm happy with the second place in the overall ranking. In the first round, I was a bit too late at the take-off, I then managed to do a bit better in the second round so I'm satisfied with the performance today. I have been jumping really well during this 4-Hills-Tournament, Ryoyu is really good and he deserves the win. I'll keep on working and I'll try to beat him in the future.
