Ski Flying World Championships: Norway's Marius Lindvik leads after day 1

Norway's Marius Lindvik leads the FIS Ski Flying World Championships in Vikersund (NOR) after two of four competition jumps. The 2022 Olympic Champion (large hill) posted jumps of 232.5 m and 226.5 m (457.5 points) on the Monsterbakken in Vikersund.
Marius Lindvik now has a lead of 6.5 points over second-ranked Austrian Stefan Kraft. "This is not much, especially in Ski Flying. But today it went great for me and of course I'm totally satisfied with the performance", Lindvik said.
After his jumps of 225.5 m and 230 m, Kraft is second and in a great position. "I'm very satisfied with my result after the first day. The second jump today was very good, everything went well and the judges also saw that", said Kraft, who got 20 style points of two of the judges and 19.5 of the other three.
Behind Kraft, the three Slovenians Domen Prevc, Timi Zajc, and Anze Lanisek came in third, fourth, and fifth, Peter Prevc, had the "worst" result of the Slovenian team today in seventh. Their performance today was incredible.
Robert Johansson was sixth, Michael Hayboeck (AUT) finished eighth, Johann Andre Forfang and Ryoyu Kobayashi were ninth and tenth.
No German and no Pole in the Top 10
The four German jumpers Karl Geiger, Severin Freund, Constantin Schmid, and Andreas Wellinger landed on the places 13, 14, 15, and 16. Karl Geiger is already 67.6 points behind the leader Marius Lindvik. This is already a gap that normally can't be closed in the remaining two rounds considering the shape of Lindvik and Kraft. Even if you should never say never in Ski Jumping. Markus Eisenbichler was 22nd.
The best of the Polish team was Jakub Wolny in 12th, Piotr Zyla (19th), Kamil Stoch (21st), and Pawel Wasek (29th) provided a mediocre result of the Polish athletes today. A nonsatisfying winter continues for the Polish team in Vikersund.
Estonia's Artti Aigro showed a very strong performance today and was 18th, Italy's Giovanni Bresadola presented himself very well in 20th.
The third of the Ski Flying World Championships in Vikersund starts on Sunday at 4:30 pm CET.
