FIS Cups in Einsiedeln

The victories in this weekend's men's and women's FIS Cup in Einsiedeln (SUI) went to athletes from Poland and Austria.

Like already last weekend in Szczyrk (POL), Austrian ski jumpers won both men's competitions. On Saturday, Marco Woergoetter stood top of the podium with his jumps of 110 m and 109 m on the HS 117 hill and 233.7 points. Maksim Bartolj of Slovenia was second with 103 m and 108 m and a score of 225.0 points. Eric Fuchs of Germany, sixth after the first round, finished third with 223.2 points (109 m and 106 m).

In Sunday's competition, which was decided after only one round due to the difficult wind conditions, Austria's Jonas Schuster, son of Ski Jumping coach Werner Schuster, took the win with 114 m and 127.2 points. Maksim Bartolj could repeat his second place from Saturday with 113 m and 124.2 points. Maximilian Lienher, who jumped on 115 m and came in third with 123.6 points, and Marco Woergoetter (4th in this competition), completed the next strong team result for the Austrians.

Nicole Konderla of Poland was the best in both women's competitions. On Saturday morning, she posted jumps of 107.5 m and 97.5 m and took the win with 222.7 points, narrowly ahead of Germany's Juliane Seyfarth (105.5 m and 103.5 m; 221.3 points). The third place went to only 15-year-old Japanese Yuzuki Sato with 100.5 m and 99 m (203.1 points).

Konderla then took the second win of her career in the FIS Cup only a short time later with 109 m and 109.5 m and 216.9 points. Riko Sakurai of Japan was second with 99 m and 102.5 m and 202.1 points). With 100.5 m and 98.5 m and 194.5 points, local hero Emely Torazza, fourth in the first competition, claimed her first-ever podium in the FIS Cup with the third place in front of her home crowd.
