Poland is first super team.
The team from Poland with Piotr Zyla and Dawid Kubacki won the first Super-Team competition of the men's ski jumping World Cup on Saturday evening in Lake Placid (USA). Zyla and Kubacki prevailed in an extremely exciting competition ahead of the teams from Austria and Japan.
Over 10,000 enthusiastic fans, including a large number with Polish flags, celebrated the winning team exuberantly. "We are going to create a Poland tour with the four locations Wisla, Zakopane, Stzczyrk and Lake Placid, this is like a home game here. We are especially happy also for all the fans here that we managed to win today. This is a historic victory and it makes us a bit proud," said Dawid Kubacki, who, just like his team-mate Piotr Zyla, had ensured the victory with a top performance at the right time.
Second place went to Stefan Kraft and Daniel Tschofenig from Austria, 13.2 points behind. "This super team was really very exciting. We both had a good first and third round, unfortunately in the second round we both didn't do so well. But that was a very cool competition today and also very good advertising for our sport," said Stefan Kraft after the competition.
The German team with Karl Geiger and Andreas Wellinger finished fourth ahead of the teams from Slovenia, Norway and Finland. Switzerland came 8th.
In Lake Placid, the final individual competition is scheduled for Sunday. Start is at 16:00 CET / 10:00 LOC (Qualification at 14:30 / 8:30 LOC).
