Timi Zajc surprises at Slovenian nationals

Most recently Timi Zajc could gain some attention with consistently strong performances in the Continental Cup and he now proved this very good shape also in the Slovenian national championships in Kranj.

The only 17-year-old ski jumper from Ljubno took his first national title on Sunday with jumps of 107.5 m and 106.5 m and a total of 258.2 points.

Six points behind the youngster, Nejc Dezman finished second with 106 m and 105.5 m. Tilen Bartol could also celebrate a podium finish in third with his jumps of 103.5 m and 106 m and 248.1 points.

The Top 3 were followed by Jernej Damjan, Anze Semenic and Aljaz Osterc on the places four to six. Peter Prevc came in ninth on his home hill, behind Anze Lanisek and Andraz Pograjc, who tied for seventh.

Ema Klinec won the title in the ladies competition with 102 m and 104 m and 236.8 points, close ahead of Nika Kriznar (105 m and 104.5 m; 234.1 points). The third place in this competition went to Ursa Bogataj with two jumps of 94.5 m (203.7 points).

The mixed team competition was won by Nika Kriznar, Rok Oblak, Ema Klinec and Tomaz Naglic for SSK Alpina with 904.6 points, followed by SSK Ilirija I (Ursa Bogataj, Lovro Kos, Spela Rogelj, Jan Kus; 864.9 points) and SK Zagorje (Lara Logar, Miran Zupancic, Katja Pozun, Andraz Pograjc; 812.9 points).
