Titisee-Neustadt

The Hochfirstschanze in Titisee-Neustadt is the largest natural jumping hill in Germany. There has been a jumping hill at the current location in Schmiedsbachtal since 1950. However the initial hill no longer met the current competition requirements and was rebuilt in 2000 to have a hill size of 142 m and a K-point of 125 m, thanks to the successes of the so-called eagles from the Black Forest: Martin Schmitt, Sven Hannawald, Dieter Thoma, Alexander Herr and others.

The 3.7 million Euro construction project enabled the return of the hill to the World Cup calendar and a Continental Cup competition in February 2001 served as the inaugural event. In December 2001, the hill hosted the first World Cup and saw another four events follow until 2007, in 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2007. After several years of absence, the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup returns to the Hochfirstschanze in December 2013.
