Three big days of action in Austria wrapped up on Monday when mixed team parallel slalom competition closed out the Lachtal 2020 FIS Snowboard Alpine Junior World Championships in entertaining fashion, with the Russian team of Sofia Nadyrshina and Dmitry Loginov finishing off dominant performances by each claiming their third gold medal in three days of competition.

After Nadyrshina and Loginov each claimed gold in both the PSL and PGS competitions in Lachtal in the previous days, it seemed a forgone conclusion that the team title would also go to the Russian duo, so there was no surprise when the pair dominated competition on Monday by finishing things off with a big final win over the Japanese team of Tsubaki Miki and Daichi Shimizu.

Third place and the bronze medal on the day also belonged to the Russians, as Victoria Pukhova and Vsevolod Martynov were able to best Xenia Spoerri and Gian Casanova in the small final.

This was the second time mixed team PSL competition has been an event as part of the junior world championships, and Russia has now claimed victory in both competitions.

With the Lachtal 2020 mixed team win, 20 year-old Loginov finishes his junior world champs career with an incredible eight gold medals across the individual and team events, as well as two silvers, making him the most decorated athlete in FIS Snowboard junior world championships history. Further, Loginov remains the only athlete in FIS Snowboard alpine history to simultaneously hold the double junior world championships and double world championships titles.

Also of note was the overall performance of the Japanese rider Miki, who earned three silver medals over the course of the weekend on the women’s side, finishing just behind Nadyrshina in all three competitions.

The FIS Snowboard Alpine tour will now break for the holidays, with the World Cup returning to action in the new year in Scuol (SUI), with PGS competition taking place on 9 January, 2021.
