Veysonnaz (SUI) ready for FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup

Three days after the ski cross world cup was hosted in Veysonnaz, now also the FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup is back in Switzerland for the sixteens time already. Switzerland’s Veysonnaz, has established itself as the most long-standing and dependable stop on the snowboard cross circuit, having hosted World Cup competition nearly every season back to 2009/2010 and has been the final stop over the last years. The event staged on the steep and fast 950 metres long course built on Piste de l'Ours will feature some exciting battles from 15 – 16 March 2023.
Veysonnaz is located in Rhone valley, 15 km away from the canton capital Sitten. The Ski resort belongs to the 4 Vallées group and besides the snowboard cross world cup well known for the alpine races which took place here over the last years.
Let’s have a look at the last two intense weeks of racing and see what we can expect from the last two weeks of the snowboard cross season 2022/23.
Beginning of march, the circuit has been in Bakuriani, Georgia where we not only crowned the new world champions Eva Adamczykova (CZE) and Jacob Dusek (AUT) in the single event, but also the new world champions in team event, Charlotte Bankes and Huw Nightingale which were fighting for the medals for Team Great Britain.
Last week, the athletes headed west to warm Spain. They got welcomed by 25 degrees in Malaga which is known for the beach and two hours later they arrived at the ski resort Sierra Nevada where we saw two exciting days of racing at spring conditions. This experience is for sure something really special. It could not have worked out better for team Spain, as their local hero Lucas Eguibar won the first race and got second in the second one in front of his family and friends. With this two results he also took over the lead in the overall world cup standings. But it was not only a perfect weekend for Eguibar. The new team world champion Charlotte Bankes (GRB) is on fire right now and so won both races and took over the lead in the overall world cup standings on the second day. Also, for team Switzerland it was a historical day on Sunday. Kalle Koblet not only won his first world cup race of his career, but it was also the first victory for team Switzerland since 14 years!
After the race in Veysonnaz on Thursday, the circuit flies over to Canada where we will see some exciting battles for the globes on 25 and at the world cup final on 26 March.

Qualification will go down on Wednesday, 15 March 2023 at 11:50 CET for men and at 12:20 CET for women.
