After a season that began in January, the world’s best freeriders return to Verbier for the most legendary event in the sport, where everything will be decided.

  • For the second FWT Final, riders transition from Alaska’s wild spines to the steep, technical face of the Bec des Rosses.

  • All four titles remain undecided as the Tour reaches its grand finale.

  • 1996–2026: celebrating 30 years of the Xtreme Verbier.

The stage is set for the grand finale of the 2026 FIS Freeride World Tour by Peak Performance. The YETI Xtreme Verbier, the second and final stop of this season’s Finals, will determine the 2026 FWT Champions after a campaign defined by intensity and adaptation.

Following the wild, untouched spines of Alaska, riders now face a dramatically different challenge: the steep, technical, and unforgiving face of the Bec des Rosses. With all four titles still undecided, the stakes could not be higher. Despite a season impacted by the cancellation of two stops due to challenging snow conditions, the Tour delivered standout moments, including a spectacular first Final in Alaska. Now, Verbier offers a return to the roots of freeriding, where for three decades (1996–2026), the world’s best riders have pushed their limits on this iconic face, shaping the history and progression of the sport. Among the 29 qualified riders, 13 are rookies who will drop into the Bec des Rosses for the first time in their careers, adding an extra layer of pressure and unpredictability to an already high-stakes showdown.

With no category mathematically decided, the YETI Xtreme Verbier promises a true test of performance, composure, and commitment.

The Bec des Rosses: the ultimate proving ground

For three decades, freeride’s greatest champions have etched their names into history on this face. Now, a new generation prepares to take on the same legendary mountain.

Rising to 3,223 meters with a 600-meter vertical drop and slopes reaching 51 degrees, the Bec des Rosses stands as the most demanding venue on the FWT circuit. A complex maze of narrow couloirs, exposed ridgelines, and mandatory airs challenges riders to find the perfect balance between technical precision and progressive freestyle. Risk-taking is essential but only flawless execution will be rewarded.

Four titles still in play

All four categories remain wide open heading into the final event. In Snowboard Men, Victor de Le Rue (FRA) leads the standings and is chasing a record-breaking fifth FWT title. However, Verbier local and FIS World Champion Liam Rivera (SUI) and French rookie Sacha Balicco remain strong contenders.

Mia Jones (USA) holds a significant lead in Snowboard Women, but faces serious challengers in reigning FWT Champion Noémie Equy (FRA), also winner of the 2025 Xtreme Verbier, and consistent podium finisher Anna Martinez (FRA).

In Ski Women, local rider Sybille Blanjean (SUI) enters with a strong advantage and deep familiarity with the Bec des Rosses, her self-declared favorite mountain. A former winner here in 2022, she will face ambitious French rookies Lou Barin and Zoé Delzoppo, both making their debut on the face.

Toby Rafford (USA) leads the rankings of the Ski Men category but faces fierce competition from Ben Richards (NZL), winner of the season’s first two events and current FIS World Champion, as well as Ross Tester (USA), runner-up at last year’s Xtreme Verbier.

A vibrant Event Village and weekend activities

Beyond the competition, Verbier will come alive with a full weekend of celebrations. The event village on Rue de Médran will be open from Friday at 12:00pm through Sunday at 6:00pm, offering a dynamic program of activities. Fans can enjoy DJ sets, brand activations, and rider signing sessions, creating a unique opportunity to connect with the athletes.
