Continental Cup season set to start in Southern Hemisphere

While we’ve just passed the halfway point of the summer up here in the Northern Hemisphere, down south of the equator the winter season is ramping up in a big way, and with those snowy southern days in full swing both the South American Cup (SAC) and Australia New Zealand Cup (ANC) seasons are set to begin for FIS Park & Pipe. 

The 2026 South American Cup will feature two stops for both Snowboard and Freeski - Cerro Castor Ushuaia (ARG) from 18-19 August, followed by Valle Nevado (CHN), from 07-11 September.

The Cerro Castor event will see Big Air and Slopestyle competitions going down for both the freeskiers and the snowboarders, while Valle Nevado will host two Big Air and two Slopestyle competitions for both disciplines. 

For the 2026 Australia New Zealand Cup competition schedule, action will get underway in Australia’s Thredbo Resort from 25-27 August with Big Air and Slopestyle competitions going down. From there it’s over to New Zealand, where The Remarkables will host Slopestyle events from 25-27 September, before the ANC season closes out with Premium-designated Big Air, Slopestyle, and Halfpipe competitions at Cardrona Alpine Resort from 03-08 October.

At all three 2026 ANC stops, all competitions will feature both Freeski and Snowboard disciplines. 

Every venue on this season’s Southern Hemisphere tours are experienced, long-time hosts of elite Park & Pipe competition, with Valle Nevado regularly hosting SAC action for 25 years now, all the way back to the 2001 season, while Cerro Castor has been a mainstay since the 2018 campaign. 

While Thredbo is the baby of the ANC venues, having held Continental Cup action for the first time in 2025, the fact that the venue also serves as the southern base for the Stomping Grounds training sessions and for the Bush Doof rail jam competitions proves the resorts freestyle pedigree. 

Over in New Zealand, both The Remarkables and Cardrona have been around as long as the ANC tour has existed, with Cardrona hosting the first ANC Park & Pipe competitions ever back in 2008, and The Remarkables hosting the second-ever ANC event in 2009. 

The top man and women for each discipline from each of the SAC and ANC tours will earn themselves a person quota spot for the 2026/27 FIS Park & Pipe World Cup season.
