Sweden’s Melvin Seliberg announced his arrival on the world stage in a big way on Sunday by topping the men’s Freeski Rail final in Calgary to become Junior World Champion.
The 15-year-old claimed victory in the 10-man final at WinSport Canada Olympic Park with a score of 43.88. Norway’s Axel A Indrevik was runner-up on 42.13, followed by team-mate Leon Vist Benjaminsen on 40.00.
Seliberg’s Rail victory follows his 12th place in Big Air and 26th place in Slopestyle earlier in the week.
The Swede was able to use those experiences to climb up the Freeski Rail leaderboard from seventh place in qualifications, to third place in the semifinal, and the top spot by competition’s end.
Before Calgary, Seliberg’s only recorded victory in his career came in February when he topped the Freeski Big Air field at a regional FIS event in Klaeppen (SWE).
Seliberg was also runner-up in Big Air at the World Rookie Freeski event in Madonna di Campiglio (ITA)in 2025, as well as in Slopestyle at the 2024 edition.
Top qualifier Cody Oldham (CAN) – the younger brother of Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Freeski Big air champion and Slopestyle bronze medallist Megan Oldham – finished fourth on Sunday with a score of 39.63.

Seliberg’s victory marked Sweden’s only podium finish at the FIS Park and Pipe Junior World Championships in Calgary, which for the first time included the Rail competition.
The men’s Freeski Rail competition on Sunday wraps up seven days of Freeski competition at WinSport Canada Olympic Park for these Championships.
