Day Two recap: Aerials and Moguls shine at the 2024 FIS Freestyle Junior World Championships in Chiesa in Valmalenco

The 2024 FIS Freestyle Junior World Championships continued to captivate spectators and athletes alike on its second day, under the backdrop of another perfect day in Chiesa in Valmalenco. The day's events kicked off with the aerials team competition in the morning, followed by an exhilarating moguls contest in the afternoon, crowning new Junior World Champions in both disciplines.

Aerials Team Event

In the aerials team event, Canada soared to the top, clinching the gold medal thanks to the outstanding performances of Alexandra Montminy, Miha Fontaine, and Alexandre Duchaine. Their remarkable synergy and individual skills brought Canada to the forefront of the aerials discipline once again.

The silver medal was awarded to the Chinese team, consisting of Jinyi Shen, Yuheng Yang, Neng Li, who demonstrated incredible technique and coordination, narrowly missing the top spot but still impressing the gathered crowds and judges.

Ukraine, with athletes Anhelina Brykina, Zakhar Maksymchuk, and Maksym Kuznietsov, showcased their aerial prowess to secure the bronze medal, marking a significant achievement for the team and adding to the day's excitement.

Moguls Competition

The moguls competition was nothing short of thrilling, with athletes from around the globe showcasing their skills on the challenging course.

In the women's category, Anastassiya Gorodko from Kazakhstan emerged victorious, claiming the gold medal with her impeccable runs. Japanese skiers Marin Ito and Yuma Taguchi took home the silver and bronze medals, respectively, highlighting the depth of talent in Japan's moguls skiing team.

The men's moguls event saw Mateo Jeannesson of Great Britain taking the gold in a surprising turn of events, demonstrating the global reach and competitive nature of freestyle skiing. Daeyoon Jung from South Korea captured the silver medal, with the USA's Asher Michel rounding out the podium with the bronze.

Looking Ahead

The final day of competition is eagerly anticipated, with the dual moguls event set to conclude the championships on Saturday. The women's event is slated to begin at 11:15 CET, followed by the men's competition at 13:30 CET, promising more thrilling action and the crowning of the last set of champions at this year's Junior World Championships.
