The FIS Freestyle World Cup event scheduled to take place in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on 7-8 March 2026 will not be held due to organisational reasons.
Since 2019, Almaty and the Shymbulak Mountain Resort have been a regular and valued stop on the FIS Freestyle World Cup calendar, successfully hosting multiple events and consistently delivering competitions at a high international standard. The venue has also demonstrated its organisational strength by hosting the FIS Freestyle World Championships in 2021, further underlining its important role in the development of freestyle skiing.
While the 2026 event will not take place as planned, the cooperation between FIS, the Kazakhstan Ski Association, and the local organisers remains strong. All parties share the goal of continuing to deliver high quality freestyle competitions in Almaty in the future.
FIS looks forward to welcoming Almaty back onto the World Cup calendar in upcoming seasons.
