From 23 to 27 September, Zurich, in Switzerland, will once again host the FIS Technical Committee Autumn Meetings — an essential gathering that sets the tone for the upcoming season and beyond. With the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games on the horizon, this year’s edition promises to be especially impactful.

The week will begin with a full afternoon session for the entire FIS staff, where senior leadership will present key achievements and strategic plans for the 2025/26 season. This internal kickoff reflects FIS’s commitment to transparency, alignment, and shared purpose across all departments.

On Tuesday, the spotlight turns to the FIS Summit, now in its third edition. This annual event has become a cornerstone of the Autumn Meetings, offering a platform for developing National Ski Associations (NSAs) to engage directly with FIS leadership and experts. This year, 58 NSAs with one or two votes will be welcomed by the FIS President for a deep dive into two critical themes: coaching and education.

Janne Leskinen, CEO of the Finnish Ski Association, and Walter Reusser, CEO Sport of Swiss-Ski, will lead the conversation on the fundamentals of training and coaching—sharing insights that aim to elevate athlete development across all levels.

The Summit will then shift focus to communications, with a participative session exploring how the last 25 years have reshaped the way sport is communicated, especially during high-profile events. For that, FIS will be welcoming two guest speakers: Chiara Luison and Valentina Comoretto from the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Games Organizing Committee. Participants will engage in an open discussion, followed by hands-on group exercises based on real-world case studies.

Beyond the Summit, the week will be packed with discipline-specific technical meetings, all geared toward preparing for what promises to be a historic Olympic and Paralympic season. Additional highlights include:

  • A Sustainability Update from FIS Sustainability Director Susanna Sieff

  • Continued work by the newly formed Women’s Committee

  • A Media & Marketing Update led by FIS Chief Commercial Director Christian Salomon

As always, the Autumn Meetings serve not only as a planning forum but also as a reflection of FIS’s evolving priorities—where innovation, inclusion, and athlete wellbeing remain at the heart of every conversation.
