Masters World Cup Finals at Pila close a record-breaking season
Apr 22, 2025·MastersThe FIS Alpine Masters World Cup Finals took place during the first week of April in Pila (ITA), over three sunny days following a heavy snowfall.
The event saw 650 starts from Masters athletes representing more than 20 nations, including the oldest male racer at age 91 and the oldest female racer at 85. It was a record-breaking season overall, with a total of 9,537 starts. While the symbolic 10,000 mark was just out of reach—due to eight races being cancelled because of weather conditions—the season remains one for the books.
The journey began in September with races in Brazil and Argentina, hosted in the stunning resort of Bariloche (ARG), and continued with the European opener in November: the first-ever FIS Masters Indoor Grand Prix. Held across three venues—Wittenburg (GER), Amnéville (FRA), and Oslo (NOR)—the Grand Prix featured seven exciting slalom races and boosted participation by an impressive 52%.
In total, the Masters calendar featured 71 races across three continents, organised by 18 different nations in 26 resorts. The Masters community is already looking ahead to next season—ready to get back on their skis and finally hit that 10,000-start milestone!
