Building stronger events together: Nordic LOC Seminar 2025
Oct 07, 2025·Nordic CombinedFrom October 3–4, 2025, 67 participants from 32 Local Organizing Committees (LOCs) and National Ski Associations (NSAs) gathered in Val di Fiemme (Italy) for the annual Nordic LOC Seminar – an event dedicated to learning, sharing experiences, and shaping the future of Nordic events together.
The seminar began on Friday at the iconic Ski Jumping venue in Predazzo, where the three FIS Nordic Race Directors – Michal Lamplot (Cross-Country), Lasse Ottesen (Nordic Combined), and Sandro Pertile (Ski Jumping) – welcomed participants and set the tone for a productive weekend. The opening day concluded in true Italian style: a relaxed social dinner, provided by the hosts from Fiemme World Cup, filled with pizza, lively conversations, and laughter. It was a perfect opportunity for participants and FIS staff to connect, exchange ideas informally, and create a positive atmosphere for the workshop ahead.
Learning from experts, sharing ideas
Saturday’s program offered a mix of inspiration and hands-on collaboration. Speakers Michal Sieczko, an experienced producer known from the Zakopane World Cup and the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, shared valuable insights into fan engagement and creating memorable event experiences. Sabrina Schreiber followed with key takeaways on volunteer management, and FIS Senior Partnership Relations Manager Andi Marugg provided perspectives on sponsor activation and involvement.

The second part of the day focused on practice. Under the guidance of FIS Senior Education Manager Cornelia Blank, participants split into working groups to address real-life challenges in event organization. The workshop’s goal was clear: to “create an event around the World Cup race” by exploring how to enhance fan engagement, strengthen cooperation between NSAs and LOCs, improve sponsor relations, and develop effective volunteer strategies.
Through open discussion, brainstorming, and shared experience, the participants worked together to identify challenges and shape actionable solutions. The atmosphere was dynamic and constructive – a genuine exchange of knowledge and ideas that reflected the diversity and expertise of the group.
A successful exchange of knowledge
All participants contributed actively and took away valuable insights for their own events. The workshop not only fostered collaboration and innovation but also reinforced the shared commitment across the Nordic community to keep improving event quality and fan experience.
