The Provisional Competition Rounds (PCR) for the Women’s Viessmann FIS Nordic Combined World Cup were held today in Otepää (EST) under true wintery conditions. Due to a challenging weather forecast for the weekend, the jury scheduled two PCRs on the same day.
A total of 33 athletes from 11 nations were on the start list, completing one training jump followed by both PCRs on the Tehvandi HS97 hill.
The first PCR was contested in the Individual Gundersen format and saw an outstanding performance by Norway’s Ingrid Laate. She delivered the longest jump of the day with 102 meters, just 1 meter short of the hill record. With a score of 134.2 points, the young Norwegian claimed victory in the opening PCR.
Second place went to her teammate and current Overall World Cup leader Ida Marie Hagen, who jumped 94 meters and collected 116.1 points. Finland’s Minja Korhonen completed the top three with a jump of 92.5 mts, earning 110.9 pts.
Laate confirms top form in second PCR
The second PCR followed immediately afterwards and was held in the Individual Compact format, which will be used first if competition conditions require it over the weekend.
Once again, Laate proved unbeatable on the hill. Her jump of 94.5 meters earned her 133.8 points and secured her second PCR victory of the day. Minja Korhonen finished second after jumping 92 meters and scoring 114 pts. Third place was claimed by US American Alexa Brabec, who reached 93.5 meters and collected 105.6 pts.
The World Cup weekend in Otepää continues tomorrow with the first competition, starting with the 5km Mass Start Cross-Country race at 12:45 CET.
