The Provisional Competition Round (PCR) for the Men’s Viessmann FIS Nordic Combined World Cup was held this noon in Oberhof (GER) under unusually clear blue skies, a rare sight for a venue more commonly associated with foggy conditions. A total of 60 athletes from 15 nations were on the start list, completing two training jumps followed by the official PCR on the HS 100 Hans-Renner hill in Kanzlersgrund.
Austria’s Thomas Rettenegger delivered the highlight performance of the day. Wearing the blue bib as the current Best Jumper, Rettenegger produced the longest jump of the round, flying to 103.5 meters. His strong effort earned him 134.1 points and secured victory in the PCR.
Second place went to his Austrian teammate Franz-Josef Rehrl, who followed closely with a jump of 100 meters and 133.2 points, finishing less than a point behind the leader. Norway’s Jens Luraas Oftebro completed the top three, reaching 96 meters and collecting 128.2 points.
The men’s first competition of the weekend will begin tomorrow with the jumping round of the Individual Compact, scheduled to start at 9:45 CET.
