The Nordic Combined Committee met during the FIS Technical Spring Meetings in Portorož (SLO) on Thursday, 7 May 2026.

The sub-committee meetings for Rules & Control, Youth & Children, and Equipment had already taken place in April in Prague. The decisions from those meetings, along with those from the Executive Board, were presented to the committee.

In addition, updated draft calendars for the upcoming season were introduced. All decisions remain subject to approval by the FIS Council on 11 June in Belgrade, Serbia.

Best Jumper and Best Skier Trophy

From now on, athletes must complete the full competition and obtain an official result to be eligible for points in the Best Jumper and Best Skier Trophy.

Competing in only one part of the competition (either ski jumping or cross-country skiing) means no points will be awarded for the trophies, regardless of performance.

Continental Cup (COC) Quota

Each nation may enter a maximum of six athletes in COC competitions, while the host nation is entitled to enter an additional four athletes as a National Group. The National group can be used in two event weekendsat a maximum of six competitions.

New Format: Individual Express Race

The new competition format, the Individual Express Race, has been successfully tested and will therefore stay in the Continental Cup rules.

The event starts with the ski jumping competition, followed by the cross-country race. The cross-country portion consists of four heats. Only the top 30 athletes qualify for the second heat, 20 for the third heat, and the top 10 advance to the final heat. The winner is the athlete who crosses the finish line first in the final heat.

Large Hill for COC Women

Following the successful introduction during the 2024-25 World Cup season, the committee has decided to include large hill competitions for women in the Continental Cup.

Equipment

The sub-committee for Ski Jumping Equipment met in Prague and decided that four suits will be permitted in the World Cup for both genders, while three suits will be allowed in the Continental Cup.

The 3D body scanning system will continue, with new measurements required only for athletes born after 2007. The FIS equipment experts may also request additional measurements for any athlete if considered necessary.

The red and yellow card system will be reset before the start of the World Cup season. From next season onward, cards will remain valid for 12 months, meaning they can carry over between seasons instead of being deleted after the final event.

Prize Money and Jury

FIS will contribute 20% of the prize money, based on the 2023-24 season, to support event organizers. Prize money will remain stable across all disciplines until 2030, with the exception of Nordic Combined women, where a two-step increase will raise the minimum prize money to 50% of the men’s level by the 2028-29 season.

In addition, the Council has already decided that, starting next season, the Race Director will become a voting member of the jury, alongside the TD, TDA, and Chief of Competition.
