Para Alpine World Cup heats up in St. Moritz: De Langen’s first, Aigner’s 60th, and battles across all categories
Dec 22, 2025·Para Alpine
St. Moritz (SUI) delivered a spectacular backdrop for the first technical events of the Para Alpine World Cup season. After the speed block in Steinach am Brenner (AUT) and Santa Caterina (ITA), athletes faced two Giant Slaloms and a Slalom on the same slope that hosted the women’s AUDI FIS Ski World Cup just a week earlier.
Dutch delight: De Langen breaks through
Niels De Langen (NED) claimed his maiden World Cup victory in the Men’s Sitting category. Sitting third after the first run of GS1, just 0.22 seconds behind leader Jeroen Kampschreur, De Langen unleashed a flawless second run to win by 1.30 seconds. “I made a few small mistakes in the first run, but nothing major. I tried to keep it clean in the second run and put everything out there—and it worked!” said the Dutchman, celebrating a comeback from injury last December.
Aigner hits 60, Stary strikes back
Veronika Aigner (AUT), guided by sister Elisabeth, overcame illness and a first-run deficit to snatch victory in Women’s Vision Impaired GS1—her 60th World Cup win. Elina Stary (AUT), guided by Stefan Winter, who led after run one, settled for second but bounced back in GS2, gifting herself a belated birthday win. Chiara Mazzel (ITA) and Fabrizio Casal took their first Slalom victory on Sunday, edging closer to the elite club of all-discipline winners.
Aarsjoe dominates despite illness
Ebba Aarsjoe (SWE) showed grit in Women’s Standing, sweeping both GS races and Slalom despite battling sickness. “My body was torn from yesterday—I was stomach sick and didn’t eat—but I’m glad to be here,” she admitted after Friday’s GS. Aurélie Richard (FRA) and Wenjing Zhu (CHN) joined her on the podium in both GS.
Italian firepower and French double wins
Giacomo Bertagnolli (ITA) and Andrea Ravelli stormed to back-to-back GS wins before a Slalom DNF. Johannes Aigner (AUT) and his guide Nico Haberl capitalized to take Slalom gold in a race where over half the Men’s VI field failed to finish. Meanwhile, Arthur Bauchet (FRA) led a French sweep in the Men’s Standing category—joined by Jules Segers in GS and Oscar Burnhaim in Slalom. “It’s great to share the podium with another Frenchman,” said Bauchet.
Women’s Sitting: Forster VS Pascual Seco
Anna-Lena Forster (GER) and Audrey Pascual Seco (ESP) traded blows in GS, with Forster winning GS1 and Pascual Seco GS2—her fourth win in seven races. “I try to start each race with my mind empty and go with the flow,” said the Spaniard. Slalom drama saw Wenjing Zhang (CHN) seize her second career win ahead of Forster and Sitong Liu (CHN).
De Silvestro’s rollercoaster, Kampschreur’s redemption
Renè De Silvestro (ITA) rebounded from a GS1 crash to dominate GS2, then led Slalom before another late DNF. Jeroen Kampschreur (NED) capitalized, vaulting from sixth to victory with a blistering second run, flanked by Japanese stars Takeshi Suzuki and Taiki Morii.
